Londooon noodle anyone

an astounding dishtruly
is singapore fried noodles

for this certainly confounds me
without a doubt it astounds me

you see it in London,
where everyone nurses a pint of beer
and it appears so much, even in
Washington, District of Columbia

stringy bits of noodle
hiding burnt clumps of egg
pathetic pieces of prawn
on a soggy beansprout lawn

they call out to me
from rows upon rows of microwaveable food
"Please eat me!!"
But I don't think i could

For chow down on that,
is something i just can't do,
for if i accommodate,
it's a beeline for the loo

See, no such thing exists in Singapore
It is only for the tourists, along with the folklore

All types of noodles, we do have it is true
from laksa to mee siam and char kway teow too
but no singapore fried noodles please,
that send me to the loo.

foody foody whoo

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD!

Coming from sunny Singapore
with verdant greens
and pretty shores
and an itsy place
full of lore
But really most
striking in fact
is that there's more stuff to eat
than just a bunch of hats!

with satay and steamboat
chicken rice and fish head curry
a good cheap meal
to find, is never a worry
zoom out to london town
to find good eats
we must look up and down
good food always comes at a price
and yes, i do fear
we aren't talking bout rice
for chinese food is all very blah
all the good food is often made of flour

look forward to coming home
that i must or else my tum tum
will be full of rust

censoring sensing

i also feel a little sad
and a little bad
to take down the poems
to give them the idiom
when they are really plain
lines dressed up elagant

i shall dressed them up again
and if proper and prim
display them satorially
and editorially trim

meanwhile at droppage
i've dropped a page
and you must opinionate
as to whether i've trangressed
the bounds ovestepped
and by the hands of the law
slapped
with injunction
with libel
with defamation
or what next
an unappealing sentence

so that i can make
the necessary amends
before its too late

now to the matter in hand
the agenda we comprehend
very soon you'll be back
and we'll miss you less and less
until you will be with us too much
and you pack yourself off to iraq
or mum or me or some one else
choose

rivers crossing

River Thames

sitting by the River Thames
on the bench a girl bestowed
her presence fine
a book divine
her backpack laid down low

a glorious day it was today
with pigeons all about
streaming cross the pavement there
tourists did scream and shout

suddenly she spies
ahead of her and cries

a runner is running straight at her
with heaving chest and weighty strides

he pounds the pavement
and beats the sweat off
red-faced and determined

off course
he veers of course
and deftly avoids the bench
she heaves a sigh
and in reply
he leaves a terrible stench

"OH MY GAWD!"
says she
stuffing her nose with her fingers

that gentleman left a gift
none too appreciated
a whiff of last night's dinner
now apparently
very well digested

shaking her head in disgust
for get back to her book she must
and leave the gentleman to his own devices

to the loo or to the john
or to the baaathroom
as the Americans call it

she does not care
a bit, a lot or at all
as long as she can
get away from it all

thinking presidential

i am hearing a slight buzz
of an election for the prez

i hope i get to vote
to exercise my role
of civic responsibility
to give plain democracy
a needed boost
in the bust

it'll all come to naught
if only one is caught
and no contest is fought
the gloves are hung up
the execution of the upper cut
starved and warded

please some one
feel yourself invited
even if no invitation card
is sent to you
to attend the tea party

dont sniff at droppage's request
yours is more than a test
yours is more than a contest
its even more that a quest

yours is not only what a man
or only a woman can be

yours is not a default
yours is not a representation
yous is our representative
yours is ours

some lines

a bird stopped in its swift flight
midflight plummeted

a river stopped at the dam
midstream dashed

you left me just like that

but i
condemned to plodding
upstream unending
paddle for paddle
sighing and heaving
afloat yet
sliding downstream
just must
